My New Son's First Adjustment

Good Evening Everyone,

My new son was just a couple days old when he received his first chiropractic adjustment.  He didn't complain of headaches, low back pain or sciatica, but he did have some trouble in being able to nurse on his 3rd day.  Given my training, I immediately checked his spine for subluxation (misalignment in the spine).  I knew that if there was a subluxation in his spine, his nervous system would not be functioning to the best of its ability.  This alone could cause enough irritation to distract him from nursing properly.
In checking his spine, I was able to locate two areas of subluxation.  First was in the top of the cervical (neck) spine and second was at the top of the thoracic (mid-back) spine.  Both areas can cause the nervous system to go into a irritated or panic state.  So, I provided a very light chiropractic adjustment to both areas to remove the subluxation and relieve irritation to the nervous system.  Immediately following the adjustment, he was able to go back to nursing without any problem.

My son's spinal subluxation is common for new-borns/ babies, with even the most gentile of births.  It's for this reason that I check my kids' for subluxation from the day they are born and would also recommend it for any parent following any type of birth.  Many babies will check out fine, but catching problems early is always best for an easy resolution (as the twig is bent, so grows the tree).
