Good Afternoon Everyone,
Over the summer there was a report that hit all of the major news TV stations. This report indicated that omega-3 fish oil was linked as a cause for prostate cancer! If true, this was a big deal since I and just about every other doctor out there has been highly recommending fish-oil as an essential supplement for overall health. So off I went to figure this out....
After reading into where this claim about prostate cancer risk came from and the science (if any) that was behind it, I'm happy to report that this is simply NOT TRUE! When researching this, I learned that if there is an elevated level of omega-3 oils in the blood with any cancer, that it is actually because of the cancer. Cancer cells alter metabolism in many ways and one is that they alter how our body breaks down omega-3 fats. The cancer induces chemicals which cause a release of fatty acids (omega-3 fish oils) into the blood stream (so a person with any cancer has a chance of having higher levels of omega-3 oils in the blood).
As for the "study" that made these claims.....This study simply showed correlation and NOT CAUSE between omega-3 oils and prostate cancer. It did not check for cause and it did not adjust for all the different factors that a truly scientific prostate cancer study would. Using the "science" behind this study, we could have also linked something like driving a SUV to that of having prostate cancer.
So in summary.... Omega-3 fish oils remain essential to the body and are absolutely necessary to use supplements for if you are not getting them from your diet.

Dr. Jeff

No Seriously... What Happened to Me This Time?
Good Afternoon Everyone,
As many of you may know, I've been away from my blogs for over 6 months now, and NO I haven't just been slacking off!! I have been getting quite an education during that time in the field of residential construction with a minor in commercial construction. This was forced upon me as I had to take over and manage the building of our new home/office location.
I'm glad to say now that we've been in our new location since the beginning of July, and are getting more settled with every week that passes. There's more work to be done, but I finally feel that I can put my mind back to writing my blog again (obviously.... since you are reading this :)) For those of you who haven't been to the new office, I am going to list below the new address and any other changes to look for.
Tuesday: off
Wednesday: 8:30-12:30 and 3:00-7:30
Thursday: 8:30-12:30 and 3:00-6:30
Friday: 7:30-10:30
Saturday: off
Sunday: off
**Changes are marked in BOLD and Underlined (we added an extra hour on Wednesday evening and are opening early on Friday to allow time for those who can't make it during the normal hours)
The following blogs will be getting back to business with some hopefully useful health information!
Yours in Health,
Dr. Jeff

Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes!
Good Afternoon Everyone,
I've had a recent patient bring up a foot pain that she'd been having for over two years! She had constant severe pain in her foot/toes which was holding her back from many different activities. She had been to many different doctors about this problem over the past years, but did not have any success in resolving it. So she figured why not bring it up to me as a last hope before she had to do some sort of surgery.
This was a great decision, because the foot was feeling 80% better within a couple adjustments. On my end, the problem was a simple one.... The bones/joints in the foot were moving correctly and were in the wrong alignment. This simple problem became a very big one for this patient when she was continuing to walk everyday on a foot that wasn't working properly. Now, this patient is beginning to walk with little to no pain and is able to exercise again.
So the take-home message this week is to make sure and bring up all areas of the body that are causing you pain or problem. Chances are that I'll be able to take care of it completely or at least help improve it without drugs or surgery!
Yours in Health,
Dr. Jeff
P.S. Just a reminder that we are moving our location to 203 W. Atlantic Ave., Haddon Heights, NJ (This is the Freight Station on the corner of Station and W. Atlantic Ave). This is beginning on Monday, March 4th. We will be there for a few months until the home office that I have been working on is ready.

ATTACK of the MUTANT FOODS!
Good Evening Everyone!
I just got done reading some very disturbing research on foods that are genetically modified. This mostly surrounds the weed killer "Round-up," which is manufactured by the Monsanto company. This company also manufactures seeds for our crops that are genetically modified to be resistant to Round-up. Makes sense right?.... Make a product for farmers to kill the weeds and then the seeds that will resist the poison. The trouble here is that they can't manufacture a human that is also genetically modified to be resistant to Round-up. This brings in the disturbing research for what this poison and the genetically modified foods are doing to us.
The study found that rats exposed to 1) genetically modified foods, 2) round-up and/or 3) water with round-up had many detrimental health effects. Here are some of the scary results:
Almost all foods/crops are GMO(genetically modified organisms) or come from GMO sources. So here is what you can do:

- All 3 groups died 2-3 times more at the same age of rats who were in the control(non-poisoned group)
- Females in all 3 experimental groups developed large mammary tumors faster than the control group
- All 3 experimental groups had modified sex hormone balance
- Many chronic kidney and liver deficiencies for the experimental groups
- More tumors found in males of the experimental groups (4x more!!)
Almost all foods/crops are GMO(genetically modified organisms) or come from GMO sources. So here is what you can do:
- buy organic vegetation
- buy Non-GMO food products
- support and pay attention to Non-GMO legislation that will put more regulation on making the food you and your family eat safe.
