Have you ever heard someone say: "I have a gut feeling about this." ? Actually, that may be completely possible. Truth is, that your gut and brain are created out of the same type on nerve tissue. During development they start as one and then split into the central nervous system and the (gut) nervous system. They stay connected and communicate with each other by using the vagus nerve. Example of this is when you get nervous and get butterflies in your stomach.
You might be saying: "So what's your point Dr. Jeff." So the point here is simple.... Healthier Gut equals Healthier Brain.
3 Things to do for a healthier gut:
1) Reduce sugar and high glycemic index foods in your diet
2) Add probiotics to your daily (probiotic yogurt or probiotic supplement)
3) Increase water intake (start small by adding two tall glasses per day to what you already drink)
